Sorry for the late update day!
I know it's no big deal, but I am trying to keep these weekly. I was going to post yesterday (actually.. I think it was two days ago now...) but I really didn't have much to say. I still don't! But I can talk about some of the games I've been playing over the past week, I guess? I've been thinking about game development again - it's not a hobby I thought I would ever come back to, to be honest. Still, luna wants to make a game so I want to help where I can, which includes unearthing this... small bit of knowledge I have. But with that has come thoughts and ideas - well, no, I have these thoughts and ideas all the time. I think people who play video games as much as I do will inevitably have their own ideas for games, especially since you can sorta recognise what you enjoy in a game and what you don't, and take those ideas and make something YOU would enjoy. It sounds fun, but I've made games before, and I've never felt like I've wanted to play them after a short while. Like, not only do you spend so much time debugging and testing that you're already sorta sick of your own creation, but its hard to enjoy a game you've built because you then already know everything about it. But maybe that just means that I've been making the wrong kind of game? Maybe its like, when you make something youre truely passionate about, you cant stop playing it despite knowing everything about it? I wonder do the terraria devs ever sit down for a session of terraria together? ... I'm pretty sure the Dwarf Fortress devs play their own game. So I guess it is a thing that happens.
Something to think about, I suppose. I'm just dumping my thoughts here, to be honest. Don't take any of it to heart.
So the games I've been playing...
Me and luna are playing Monster Hunter Generations again! And I've been taking a LOAD of gameplay clips! ... Most of them are me getting beat up by the monster, or whiffing an attack. Or Luna smacking me with her hammer! Or in the case of the clip below - all THREE!!
We're going through every quest one by one in the quest list. In order. I guess thats the rule for this playthrough. We said we shouldn't allow repeating any quests, but I think we did repeat a few before we decided on that rule, so I guess it doesn't count. Anyway, we haven't repeated a quest in a very long time in any case. I'm using Valour Greatsword for this playthrough. Valour is so much fun! Honestly it doesn't feel out of place and... Turns bad players like me into good ones, lmao. Seriously though, I think it takes some time to get used to it - but once you do being able to parry the monsters every attack is so, so, SO useful. Hoenstly, you can take down anything with it. Not ANYTHING - much later on the damage you take from parrying is too much - but honestly I'm talking like, super late game quests. But hey, we're going to do those too, so we'll see if I have to switch to Adept style or something. We've just entered 5 star quests, at time of writing, so we're fresh into high rank. Since we're trying not to repeat quests, we're also making good use of the cat gameplay, and taking our time gathering instead of rushing the key quest monsters to progress, and its suuuuuper chill. Good vibes.
I've been taking a screenshot of every single quest ending screen (I've missed a few sadly), and I don't really know what I'm going to do with them, but I think they will be fun to do SOMETHING with. Maybe I'll share some here! Infact, here's one now!
Other than Monster Hunter, I've been playing Terraria with said friend I mentioned in a previous blog post, which has been really fun. Terraria is a game I love but I'm really really bad at it, haha. Luna made a joke about there being three kinds of Terraria player:
The one who memorizes the wiki
The one who has the wiki open
The one who want's to do neither
... And I am definitely the third one, lol. I can remember some things, and I'm pretty good at playing the Summoner line through the whole game at this point (although I learned on this playthrough that there is a starter summoner outfit you can get from the frozen biome! ... Also you can craft mirrors, who knew?)... but I really don't remember the specifics on how to craft the multiple branching paths of upgradable items lol. There's so many! Like, a cloud goes in a bottle, and then combines with a baloon, then a horseshoe, then some shoes, an ipod, a dildo...... I can't remember all of that :( Luckily, I seem to only ever play Terraria with Terraria experts, so it's always a nice experience for me!
I was also invited to play Terraria on their stream, which was really cool. I've always wanted to stream with other people and stuff, so its really nice to be invited to do so! Honestly, when I make friends, I've noticed they've often tried to keep me away from their other friends. Sometimes they introduce me to the odd person, but I'm typically kept seperate. I always feel like someone is being my friend out of charity because of it. Maybe it's a problem with me? I can be difficult to be friends with sometimes, I think. Anyway, I felt like someone was proud to have me as their friend for a moment. Maybe I'm thinking too much! Maybe I'm the only person who thinks like this. But it felt nice. Like I was kinda... Cool!
I've also been playing a cool Pokemon Romhack. It's called Pokemon KANTO EXPANSION PAK. I was going to talk about it here buuuuut... I feel like this blog post has gone on long enough. Considering I didn't know what to type at first, I've actually come pretty far! A quick update on the other things in my life - I'm still depressed, art still isn't going well, I've learnt maybe 1 japanese word in the past week, and I've done absolutely nothing creative. ... This is really getting me down, but as I always say... Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow I will have the energy. In terms of art, I really need to just start from scratch. But... I think I said this last week. Anyway. I'm going to eat some cake. Oh, and while I do that, as always -
Stay cool, like a swimming pool♥
